North Portland Oregon Real Estate

nullMany people regard the neighborhoods of North Portland as the area of opportunity, containing some of the last truly affordable great properties of Portland. If you review appreciation in the Portland metro area the last few years, you will find that North Portland real estate has been near the top consistently.

Between 2002 and 2004, North Portland real estate, on average, increased over 18% a year.  Some areas, like the Mississippi area, skyrocked in price during this time, and are now playing host to modern, LEED certified green condos and homes filling what were once vacant lots.

The MAX line, running north and south on Interstate, is a 5.8-mile segment, that has led to even more growth in this area.  The MAX Yellow Line connects the Expo Center in North Portland with downtown and the rest of the transit system. It opened in the Spring of 2004.  Distinctly different from these areas is historic St. John's, tucked in the very northwest corner of Portland.  It's a piece of Portland history that has slowly but surely been reviving itself over the last years.

All in all, North Portland is home to changing neighborhoods, fueled largely by first time home buyers styling things up, hip and edgy businesses, creative people, lots of green spaces, and a sense of change coming.
